However, withinthe first hour his side had slipped to 31-3 as Australians Matt Mason and NantieHayward made early inroads with the new ball.However, Powell remained resolute and initially with Matthew Maynard and later withRobert Croft, he led a recovery with some powerful drives. The sixth wicket standbetween Croft and Powell had added 84 when Croft was run out, but Powell was unbeatenat the close on 116, and he will be looking for further tail-end resistance when thegame resumes tomorrow morning with Glamorgan seeking further batting points in theirquest for promotion from Division Two.
